Naturally at that time in Humanities history things like this happened more often than not. Women were looked down as mere playthings to produce sons to help with the heavy labor of a family tribe. Notice in this it is not the fault of the father but of the young daughters. He had sex with his daughter but he was unaware... Yeah, Right! The more I read in the Bible the more I am Glad I have finally found the God of my youth which I thought was the same God of my Church. Natures God, A God of Creation through Love.
Moon Landing Shows the Power of Humanity to Overcome Superstition

Today, July 20, 2009, marks the 40th anniversary of when man first set foot on the moon. What a fantastic achievement that was! When we think of all the obstacles that needed to be conquered we should also remember the psychological and dogmatic obstacles as well as the physical ones.
Based on Genesis 11 we know that the Bible god became very upset when humans decided to build a tower that would reach all the way to heaven. Can you imagine how upset the Bible god must be with NASA!?
When Europe was ruled by Christianity during the Dark Ages people who could have brought progress to society were imprisoned and/or burned alive. For example, Giordano Bruno, who this Deist newsletter is named for, was burned alive by the Church for saying that Copernicus was correct, the earth is not the center of the universe. Galileo was imprisoned and would have been burned alive like Bruno if he had not recanted what Bruno refused to recant. And Johannes Kepler's mother was arrested for being a witch in 1618. He had to leave his studies to rescue her from the Christians!
When we celebrate our scientific progress we need to always keep in mind the obstacles to that progress. Judeo-Christianity is a great obstacle to real progress due largely to an intrinsic defect found in the Bible. Leo Strauss, the founder of neoconservativism, pointed out this fault when he said, "Judaism is a concern with return; it is not a concern with progress. 'Return' can easily be expressed in biblical Hebrew; 'progress' cannot." And since both Christianity and Islam can trace their roots to Judaism, their being an obstacle to progress is not surprising at all. During the Apollo Eight mission the astronauts read from the Book of Genesis about the Bible myth of the creation. On the Space Shuttle Columbia the Jewish astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman carried the Torah into space and even conducted Jewish rituals in space. We need to guard against the promotion of such anti-progress organizations marking their territory in space. I hope a future astronaut will bring a copy of Thomas Paine's The Age of Reason into space and read, "It is only in the CREATION that all our ideas and conceptions of a Word of God can unite. The Creation speaks a universal language, independently of human speech or human language, multiplied and various as they may be. It is an ever-existing original, which every man can read. It cannot be forged; it cannot be counterfeited; it cannot be lost; it cannot be altered; it cannot be suppressed. It does not depend upon the will of man whether it shall be published or not; it publishes itself from one end of the earth to the other. It preaches to all nations and to all worlds; and this Word of God reveals to man all that is necessary for man to know of God."
