From the pen of a Free Thinking Deist

Stoning , all religions have made this as the Word Of God. Just read your Bible or Koran. It is one of the reasons a Deist says it is not the word of God it is only the word of primitive man.

The study of theology, as it stands in Islamic Mosques, is the study of nothing; it is founded on nothing; it rests on no principles; it proceeds by no authorities; it has no data; it can demonstrate nothing; and it admits of no conclusion. Not any thing can be studied as a science, without our being in possession of the principles upon which it is founded; and as this is not the case with Islamic theology, it is therefore the study of nothing.
 Instead then, of studying theology,
 as is now done,
out of the Torah, Testament and Koran,
the meanings of which books are always
controverted and the authenticity of which is disproved, it is
necessary that we refer to the Bible of the creation. The principles
we discover there are eternal and of divine origin; they are the
foundation of all the science that exists in the world, and must be
the foundation of theology.

I as a Deist in the vain of Thomas Paine agree 100% with the following to wit: "Somebody should make this statement in America not just to Muslims, but to the fundamentalist Christians who are attempting to impose their corrupt theocratic ideals on a secular state."

Colonial America was under the cross. The King of France (Catholic) in their Colonial Empire part and the King Of England (Protestant) after winning power by murder and deceit in their Home Island England.

The Cross of Christ was imposed upon all. And what were the Happy Results?

The Crusades against Islam also contributed indirectly to the forces that led to the Reformation, and such religious practices as the burning alive of witches (not following their brand of Christianity) trumped up charges and false paid witnesses proved they were in league with the Devil.

The fear and oppression of heretics, and various other negative impulses were determined by their missionary colonist Priests, who loved wearing large crosses swinging from their necks as they disembarked from across the seas.

Of the peasant multitudes who yearned to find a new life most were home schooled, men to work the land, females to tend the home and raise the children.

Have you ever studied the the secular history of the age when Jesus was in full Bloom? Of course not because there is not one iota of him in secular records nor in Hebrew Religious records by the Jews who were physically living at the time. Nonetheless, you will find an interesting character that is recorded in the lively account of the many miracles wrought by Apollonius as well as his journeys to Egypt and India and finally his showdown with the Emperor of Rome. It is also a philosophical and religious work that for a long time rivaled Christianity and Jesus Christ. In the Life of Apollonius, the Athenian author Philostratus, a sophist who lived from c.170 to c.247, tells the story of Apollonius of Tyana,
A charismatic teacher and miracle worker from the first century CE who belonged to the school of Pythagoras. (A summary can be found here.) It is an apologetic work, in which Philostratus tries to show that Apollonius was a man with divine powers, but not a magician. He also pays attention to Apollonius' behavior as a sophist.

 Deism Origin:

1675–85 ( Note: The Church still held complete control of what went into Dictionaries at that time. Throughout their powerful control they invented many words to uphold their ridiculous claims. For instance the transubstantiation and Eucharist—This was originally placed in Wagner's (A deeply religious Christian) Dictionary at the Time of Thomas Paine and dismissing his book "The Age of Reason" which gives a true and meaningful understanding of Deism.

In fear that this type of Free Thinking Deism would spread Paine's writings was hushed and  pulled from the classrooms by the still powerful control the English Church held. Liberal well funded of yesteryear Public Education still taught the truth of our Revolution and why. However that dissipated pretty fast. Today, Public Education has become a scam for lack of funds.

Also Today, dictionaries still carries this half truth defining Deism.
The Church also defined Atheism and lumped that in their controlled dictionaries. Prior to our successful revolution Atheism along with Deism was seen as Devil possession. Heresy against the Lord and unless one begged for forgiveness you were burned alive on the stake.
Since then they have lost most of their control but the damage; however, has been done.
A Deist has no way of saying or knowing what our Creator's intentions are./ˈdiɪzəm/
"I believe in one God, and no more; and I hope for happiness beyond this life."
Excerpt from The Age of Reason, Thomas Paine.
 Correct definitions for Deism
1.
belief in the existence of a god on the evidence of reason and nature only, with rejection of supernatural revelation ( distinguished from theism).
2.
belief in a God who created the world but has since remained indifferent to it.
Deist are free thinkers that abide by the Golden Rule not for a reward? Only because it is the right thing to do.

Now let us take a look at yet another offshoot of the Jesus Story.

The Arrest Records of Joseph Smith from 1826 to 1830 are Rediscovered and Given to the Mormon Church.

“Joseph Smith's Arrest Record Surfaces In New York”  excerpt:

…``It is not a small thing. These are important papers to a major religion,'' she said. ``It's a piece of the historical puzzle that was missing for nearly 35 years.'' …

… The documents include arrest warrants, court transcripts and legal bills from four separate charges filed against Smith. Storms said the cases involved Smith's involvement in glass looking, or treasure seeking, and being a disorderly person. …

…One of the documents includes a bill from then-South Bainbridge Justice Albert Neely to the county for services rendered. Included in the bill is a $2.68 charge for fees in examining the case of ``Joseph Smith, the glass looker.''
Dr. Nibley was able to maintain plausible deniability when he made this statement in 1961. I wonder what he would say today if he were alive?

BTW, what an appropriate name for his book...The Myth Makers!

Taken from the Tanner's website:

"The noted Mormon apologist Hugh Nibley published a book in which this statement appeared: "...if this court record is authentic it is the most damning evidence in existence against Joseph Smith." (The Myth Makers, 1961, page 142) On the same page we read that such a court record would be "the most devastating blow to Smith ever delivered." Because he could see the serious implications of the matter, Dr. Nibley tried in every way possible to destroy the idea that the court record was an authentic document."

It's about time Deists and freethinkers took the season back and corrected the error Pope Julius made in 350 CE when he corrupted the natural Winter Solstice celebrations into a celebration of the alleged birth of Jesus!
